Grow your own- Kitchen Gardening weekends
Do you long to eat herbs, fruits and vegetables that you grew yourself? Hilton Park is giving you the chance to learn to do just that.
Hilton Park will be running a series of Knowing & Growing- a kitchen garden weekends for those who wish to know more about tending to a kitchen garden, self sufficiency, and getting “back in touch with the soil” which in these harder times is now more relevant than ever.
Perhaps one would like to get away from the city for a weekend and to return with an extra green finger from the countryside too. Or maybe you just want to brush up on your skills or discuss with other green fingers how they grow their own.
The weekend will give a basic understanding of how to grow your own, but still provide the luxuries of a country house fare, delicious food and wine and good company in a relaxing and charming place.
Learn to grow vegetables organically free from health damaging chemicals, understand the basic principles of growing, harvesting and preparing your vegetables to cook or eat raw.
During the weekend you will also learn to forage for food free in the wild, discover salad leafs on your doorstep, learn to identify edible flowers, leafs and herbs and delicious hedgerows that you can identify to take to your table at home. We will show you that sometimes the best produce does not have to be expensive.
Anyone can grow their own vegetables, if you only have a balcony, use buckets, boxes, window boxes, tea chests or pots- almost any available container or grow “mini” vegetables or dot them among your flowers. We hope to inspire and encourage you to start growing, we will show you that anyone can.
The courses will be run on the following weekends:
8th- to 10th May
22th to 25th May
12th to 14th June
3rd July to 6th July
24th July to the 26th July
